VR Chem Lab

A client wanted a chemistry lesson for visually impaired teenagers, twelve to sixteen, who had never had the chance to take a chemistry class. What they got was a virtual classroom you walk through and an experiment you actually complete.

Because the players cannot rely on what is on screen, voice does the work sight normally would: the guidance through the room and through the experiment is all audio. I did the level design and coded some of the mechanics.

The lesson, played

A serious game rather than a game about chemistry: the point is that the experiment gets done, in the right order, by someone who cannot see the bench.

Gameplay. The narration that guides the player, which fires on hovering anything, is not audible in this capture.
