Ocean Clean Up

A game about ocean pollution, made to get the point across to high-school students rather than to people who already agree.

My part was the assets and the shaders: the rubbish you are pulling out of the water, and how it all looks.

Ocean Clean Up

The rubbish, and the water it floats in

Low-poly bottles, bags and sacks, and the level they sit in. The art has to read instantly at a glance, because nobody in a classroom is going to study a silhouette.

The water was the harder half. It is a 3D platformer played from the side, so you are not looking down at a surface, you are looking through a cut across a cube of water: the top edge has to move like waves from that angle while the body of it still reads as depth behind the player.

Not gameplay: the water shader, which is the part that had to work for a 2.5D view.
Low-poly models made for the game, in the modelling viewport.
