Google Ads Daily Report

Every campaign order needs the same write-up each morning: what it has done in total, what it did yesterday, and the difference. By hand that is opening Google Ads once per order, reading a row of figures off the screen, and typing them into a sheet.

This does the whole set at half past seven, before anyone is in.

Google Ads Daily Report

Asked twice

Each order is asked for twice: everything up to yesterday, and everything up to today. Running totals are what the report is about, and the day on its own is the difference between the two, so both come out of the same pair of queries and neither has to be worked out afterwards. Each pull brings back views, impressions, clicks, CTR and cost, and a few more besides.

An order is rarely one campaign. It usually runs several, and they all come back together under the order, paused ones included, because a campaign can be stopped halfway through and what it already spent still belongs in the total. When an order is finished it comes off the sheet and stops being asked about.

The sheet it lands in

The raw figures are not readable as they arrive: costs come back in millionths, rates as long decimals, and the sheet is read in European formatting. Both sets go to Claude with the format spelled out, and come back as finished tables, one per order.

Those land in a raw data sheet, and an Apps Script takes it from there. It makes a sheet for any order that is new to the list, updates the ones already on it, and lays each one out as today, yesterday and the comparison with the numbers filled in.

From there it is mine to work with. I colour-code my way down it while I am optimising through the day, and having every order in one place is what makes the decisions quick.
